Date Range: January 26th - February 4th
Days: Tuesdays (1/26 & 2/2), Thursdays (1/28, 2/4), and Sunday (1/30)
Time:  7:30PM-10:00PM EST / 4:30PM-7:00PM PST

Class will run with a minimum of 5 students.  If course does not meet minimum student requirement, students will be refunded or allowed to switch to another Helium Academy class of equal value and experience.

Sketch Class Syllabus:

  • Develop original sketches for stage and/or film production
  • Mold topics into creative script concepts using the guidelines of appropriate sketch framework
  • Translate your ideas into funny, engaging scenes and dialogue through proper joke structure and editing techniques


How will this work? This class will be hosted through a Zoom Webinar. All instructions on how to access Zoom, the webinar, and class materials will be emailed to students prior to the session.

Curt Riedy is a filmmaker, comedy writer and performer in the Philadelphia area. A long-standing member of the sketch-comedy troupe High Dramma, Curt has performed in comedy festivals across Boston, Baltimore, Montreal and New York City. He’s also one of the co-producers of Philly Sketchfest, the city’s long-running sketch comedy festival. He's mentored 2 comedy teams for the Philly Improv Theater’s Iron Sketch Competition and has produced, directed and edited videos for several local sketch troupes, including The Incredible Shrinking Matt & Jacquie, Kathryn & Sarah and Patric Writes Sketches. Recently, he’s produced and edited a variety of comedic online spots for brands such as Land O’Lakes, Toys ‘R’ Us, Campbell’s and the NFL. As an actor/comedian, he’s appeared on television shows such as “The Rotten Tomatoes Show”, “Chain Reaction”, “Flight of the Conchords”, and “Conan”.
