Time: 4:00 PM ET | 1:00 PM PT | Each class is approximately 2 hours long, although this may vary depending on the day and the material being covered.
The class will run with a minimum of 5 students. If the course does not meet minimum student requirement, students will be refunded or allowed to switch to another Helium Academy class of equal value and experience.
Led by seasoned instructor and comedian Alex Falcone, you'll learn the foundations of stand-up comedy from your living room! In this course, we’ll teach you the basics of joke structure, developing your comedic voice, how to edit and punch up your material, as well as creating tags and using act-outs to maximize your routine. You’ll also receive insights on how to get started in your local comedy scene and the fundamentals of self-promotion!

Alex Falcone has been doing comedy professionally since 2008. He's appeared on the IFC show Portlandia and performed at The Brooklyn Comedy Festival, The Bridgetown Comedy Festival, Bumbershoot in Seattle, Sketchfest in San Francisco, and many more. He was named a comedy act to watch by the Portland Monthly in 2014 and one of the Willamette Week's Funniest 5 in 2015. Alex has been teaching writing and standup comedy to everybody from absolute beginners to seasoned performers since 2012. His students have consistently placed in the top of the Portland's Funniest Person contest.
